One of the most common questions Arranmore Islanders are asked is, “how do you get there.” In this blog, we have outlined just how to transport you to your island escape.
Local Link bus number 271 will take you on a beautiful coast road journey to Arranmore Island. The bus takes approximately 1 hour and 40 mins. It runs three times a day, check timetable below. The bus departs from the Bus Stop (Reynolds Music) in Letterkenny and stops several times on route to the island.
Doherty’s Travel is a Donegal bus company that departs Letterkenny at 3:15 (Tesco car park) and 3:30 (Dunnes Stores, near Old Town). This bus will arrive in Burtonport at approximately 4:40pm. The bus departs Burtonport at approximately 9:20am.
If you are a bit further afield than Donegal, you may consider flying here. Aer Lingus operates flights twice daily from Dublin to the World’s Most Scenic Airport. The Donegal Airport is located only a 15 minute drive to Burtonport. Taxis are available to transport you to the pier.
You will experience breathtaking views of Arranmore, other surrounding islands and golden beaches as you prepare to land. You are in for a treat if you choose to fly to the Donegal Airport.
Travel on the Arranmore Ferry from Burtonport Pier. You can book your tickets on our website or download the app. The Arranmore Ferry can transport both cars and passengers to the island. It runs every hour in peak season. Check out the timetable for more information.
